Overview
AuthTally does not use cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics. This page explains what's actually used, browser storage for basic functionality, so you know exactly what's happening on your device.
Quick summary: No tracking cookies, no ad pixels, no third-party analytics. Just a small amount of local browser storage that makes the app work.
What's Used Instead of Tracking Cookies
Rather than cookies, AuthTally stores a small amount of data directly in your browser to make the app work. This data stays on your device and is never sold or shared with advertisers.
For organizers (logged-in accounts)
- Your login session is kept active using Firebase's built-in browser storage, so you don't have to sign in again every time you open the app.
- Your events, entries, categories, notes, and templates are temporarily cached in your browser to make navigating the dashboard faster. This is just a local copy of your own data pulled from AuthTally's database, and it's cleared automatically when you sign out or delete your account.
- Your theme choice (light or dark mode) is remembered locally.
For voters
- Your preferred way of viewing the voting page (grid or list) is remembered locally.
- If an event's organizer allows anonymous voting, a small flag is stored in your browser noting that you've already voted on that specific event, so you can't vote twice. This flag is tied to your browser and device, not to your identity, and doesn't leave your device.
What's Not Used
AuthTally doesn't use cookies or any other tracking technology for advertising, cross-site tracking, or third-party analytics. It doesn't use tools like Google Analytics, ad pixels, or similar services.
Third-Party Services
A few services AuthTally relies on (described fully in the Privacy Policy) may set their own storage as part of how they function, for example its authentication and hosting infrastructure. These exist to make the service work, not to track you across other websites.
Managing Browser Storage
Since AuthTally doesn't rely on tracking cookies, there's nothing to opt out of in the usual sense. If you'd like to clear the local data described above, you can clear your browser's site data for AuthTally at any time, though this will sign you out and clear your cached preferences.
Changes to This Policy
If that ever changes, for example if analytics are added in the future, this page and the "last updated" date above will be updated to reflect it.
